One Poem by March Penn

Thoughts after an Ezra Furman Concert

it's not love baby
if the ability to represent oneself
is more important than people's lives

Watching a documentary about people like me
being a freak show just for going on a date
I know that's not poetry baby

the physical condition
of an ephemeral vibrancy
don't be specific/ dots everywhere

and memory unreliable
what happened before a person
could be mistaken for a theory

Ezra Furman says if you have no future
it's all present

maybe if I keep spinning it will all go

blurry
I am only ever the kind of top that spins
sorry I can't do codependency

even if I try. It's like small talk
and wolfing down elaborate noise
Somehow I started

whirling
Earth's grind
a blue premise

this contradiction:
1. everything is entwined
and 2. connection is a simulation
