One Poem by Suzanne O’Toole

When I Was A Green Parrot

When I was a green parrot
chirpy at the clay lick-
‘twas but a lifetime ago-

When I was a chatty one
a convivial, a happy one
a silly-sally sappy one.
Oh-

When I was a green parrot
all cheerfully unbroken
so free to speak
outspoken.
So-

When I was a green parrot
a chirpy quirky chappy one
before I met a zappy one...
Whoa-

When I was a green parrot
chirpy at the clay lick
‘twas but a lifetime ago-
