The Self-Educating Poets Network

The Self-Educating Poets Network is accepting submissions of poetry, short fiction and other literary work. Please send 1-10 poems or a maximum of 15 pages to selfeducatingpoetsnetwork@gmail.com. The file must be a Word doc through Google Drive or an email attachment in Word doc format. You may also use the body of an email to submit your work.

Note: We also accept audio and video: If you are submitting an audio file of your work instead of text or in addition to text, please submit no more than 4-5 minutes in MP3 format. If you would like to submit a YouTube video instead of text or in addition to text, please provide a link directly to your YouTube video.

All submissions should include your bio and optional headshot/photograph of you. The deadline to submit to our fifth volume is December 1, 2022.

We do not have a budget at this time so we cannot offer you payment for your work but we can promote your work online and welcome you to our free online classes in poetry, literary studies and workshopping. (Join the DIY MFA group on Facebook for more information.)

The Self Educating Poets Network is a DIY self-education group providing resources and virtual meeting space to poets seeking a free education in community with others. It was founded on principles of activism from Occupy Boston’s Free School University (FSU) as well as the free spirit of poets who met from the Cantab Poetry Lounge and Boston Poetry Slam.

We aim to publish work that is in line with our values of anti-oppression, especially a tenderness toward fellow humans and planetary life. We enjoy originality and a spirit of learning as well as celebrating creativity. We’re not interested in controversial political pieces unless they are personal narratives with a great deal of purpose. We tend to select work that is personal in nature or reflects the writer’s lived experience, though we also dig experimental work.
