Two poems by Sue Savoy

Things I wanted that I couldn't have, a limerick

There once was something I wanted
With its nearness I was taunted
I reached out to touch
But missed by this much
And by that I'm forever haunted.

Things I wanted that I couldn't have, a nonet

Everything I ever wanted was
denied to me -- no, that's a lie.
I tried to never want much.
Then if you don’t get it
you won’t have to be
disappointed.
But turns out
I still
was.
